Tutor Cancellation Policy: Guidelines & Penalties

The easiest way to manage a change to your scheduled sessions is to reschedule the lesson directly within the BrightPath platform rather than cancelling it. Because lessons are directly linked to a family's pre-purchased credits, cancelling a session outright disrupts their balance and visibility.

Tutors are expected to maintain consistency and proactively manage their calendars to ensure student continuity.

If you need to reschedule a lesson, follow these steps.

Notice Periods & Platform Penalties

To maintain the high quality and reliability of the LessonWise Certified Tutor Network, strict compliance boundaries apply to tutor-initiated cancellations:

  • The 48-Hour Rule: Any tutor-initiated modification made with less than 48 hours' notice requires manual support intervention and is flagged for review.
  • Frequent Short-Notice Cancellations: Tutors who repeatedly cancel or reschedule sessions with less than 48 hours' notice may face formal review, a temporary freeze on receiving new student placements, or removal from the network.
  • Unexcused No-Shows: Failing to attend a scheduled session without prior platform notification or contacting the support team constitutes a severe breach of quality standards and may result in immediate removal from the network.

Please note: Keeping lessons scheduled on the platform ensures that administrative errors in lesson payments, tracking, and family credits are avoided entirely. Always communicate schedule adjustments transparently and, whenever possible, execute them through BrightPath.
