Safeguarding and Reporting Concerns: Essential Compliance Guidelines

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. As an alucea tutor, you have a duty to help protect the safety and wellbeing of every learner.

If you witness, suspect, or receive a disclosure that raises a safeguarding concern, you must report it immediately. Do not attempt to investigate the situation yourself or promise confidentiality to the student.

How to report a safeguarding concern

If you have a safeguarding concern:

  1. Record the facts as accurately as possible, including:
    • What you observed.
    • What was said or disclosed.
    • The date and time of the incident.
    • Any actions already taken.
  2. Email the information immediately to safeguarding@alucea.org.
  3. The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) will review the report, record the concern, and take any appropriate action in accordance with Alucea safeguarding procedures.

Important: Report only factual information. Avoid assumptions, opinions, or personal interpretations.

Communication and safeguarding requirements

To help safeguard learners and comply with alucea policies:

  • All communication with students and parents must take place through BrightPath.
  • Do not communicate with students or parents using personal email, phone numbers, WhatsApp, social media, or any other external platform.
  • Never share your personal contact details with students or parents.
  • If a student or parent asks to communicate outside BrightPath, politely decline and notify Customer Support.

Failure to follow these requirements may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the Alucea tutor network.


Confidentiality

Tutors are expected to treat all learner information as confidential.

You must not:

  • Take screenshots, photos, audio recordings, or videos of students unless explicitly authorised by Alucea.
  • Share learner names, images, lesson content, or personal information with anyone who is not authorised to receive it.
  • Post any learner information or images on social media or other public platforms.

Confidentiality helps protect the privacy, safety, and wellbeing of our learners.

If a learner is in immediate danger

If you believe a learner is at immediate risk of harm, you should:

  1. Contact the appropriate emergency services or local authorities immediately.
  2. Notify Alucea by emailing safeguarding@alucea.org as soon as it is safe to do so.

Remember

If you are ever unsure whether something should be reported, it is always better to raise the concern. The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) will assess the information and determine the appropriate next steps.
